© Reuters. France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.54%
Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Oil & Gas and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.54% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.61%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF), which rose 1.65% or 0.73 points to trade at 44.76 at the close. Meanwhile, Bouygues SA (EPA:BOUY) added 1.50% or 0.49 points to end at 33.06 and Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR) was up 1.26% or 0.25 points to 20.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO), which fell 5.90% or 1.29 points to trade at 20.57 at the close. Renault SA (EPA:RENA) declined 4.30% or 1.00 points to end at 22.12 and Stellantis NV (EPA:STLA) was down 3.47% or 0.45 points to 12.39.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were CGG SA (EPA:GEPH) which rose 3.77% to 1.07, Vallourec (EPA:VLLP) which was up 3.12% to settle at 10.90 and Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) which gained 2.46% to close at 3.08.
The worst performers were Faurecia (EPA:EPED) which was down 10.74% to 20.45 in late trade, Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which lost 8.27% to settle at 31.60 and Valeo SA (EPA:VLOF) which was down 6.08% to 16.21 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 348 to 205 and 92 ended unchanged.
Shares in Stellantis NV (EPA:STLA) fell to 52-week lows; losing 3.47% or 0.45 to 12.39. Shares in Faurecia (EPA:EPED) fell to 5-year lows; down 10.74% or 2.46 to 20.45. Shares in Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) fell to 5-year lows; down 8.27% or 2.85 to 31.60.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.42% or 7.95 to $1,903.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.91% or 2.87 to hit $101.41 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.34% or 2.39 to trade at $104.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.49% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.56% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.41% at 102.19.
