Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Materials and Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.51%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.45%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE), which rose 5.27% or 0.87 points to trade at 17.39 at the close. Meanwhile, EssilorLuxottica SA (EPA:ESLX) added 2.12% or 6.00 points to end at 288.40 and Vivendi SA (EPA:VIV) was up 1.95% or 0.06 points to 2.93 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Stellantis NV (EPA:STLAM), which fell 5.23% or 0.68 points to trade at 12.27 at the close. Publicis Groupe SA (EPA:PUBP) declined 4.45% or 4.53 points to end at 97.32 and STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA) was down 3.95% or 1.00 points to 24.17.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Vusiongroup SA (EPA:VU) which rose 23.96% to 206.40, Clariane SE (EPA:CLARI) which was up 19.13% to settle at 3.62 and Emeis SA (EPA:EMEIS) which gained 12.24% to close at 11.22.
The worst performers were Sopra Steria Group SA (EPA:SOPR) which was down 11.12% to 156.70 in late trade, SEB SA (EPA:SEBF) which lost 8.13% to settle at 85.85 and Eutelsat Communications SA (EPA:ETL) which was down 7.17% to 1.20 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 271 to 209 and 105 ended unchanged.
Shares in Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE) rose to 5-year highs; rising 5.27% or 0.87 to 17.39. Shares in Vusiongroup SA (EPA:VU) rose to all time highs; up 23.96% or 39.90 to 206.40. Shares in Sopra Steria Group SA (EPA:SOPR) fell to 52-week lows; losing 11.12% or 19.60 to 156.70.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.31% or 38.49 to $2,892.11 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 2.24% or 1.54 to hit $70.16 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 1.89% or 1.36 to trade at $73.43 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.65% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.24% to 0.82.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.69% at 107.06.
