Most Fed members eye rate cuts this year, but splits emerge on next steps
Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Healthcare and Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.36%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.31%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Publicis Groupe SA (EPA:PUBP), which rose 2.46% or 2.40 points to trade at 99.84 at the close. Meanwhile, Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) added 1.36% or 0.80 points to end at 59.62 and Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE) was up 1.15% or 0.22 points to 19.34 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR), which fell 2.16% or 0.28 points to trade at 12.66 at the close. Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN) declined 2.06% or 4.70 points to end at 223.25 and Stellantis NV (EPA:STLAM) was down 1.57% or 0.14 points to 9.03.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Fnac Darty SA (EPA:FNAC) which rose 7.82% to 32.40, Soitec SA (EPA:SOIT) which was up 4.68% to settle at 49.92 and SES (EPA:SESFd) which gained 4.18% to close at 5.23.
The worst performers were Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) which was down 2.37% to 5.04 in late trade, Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR) which lost 2.16% to settle at 12.66 and Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN) which was down 2.06% to 223.25 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 244 to 231 and 87 ended unchanged.
Shares in Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) rose to 52-week highs; rising 1.36% or 0.80 to 59.62. Shares in Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 1.15% or 0.22 to 19.34.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.32% or 10.80 to $3,354.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.63% or 1.71 to hit $66.69 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.29% or 1.53 to trade at $68.40 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.57% to 1.15, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.51% at 98.56.
