Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Consumer Goods and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.07%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.08%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF), which rose 2.11% or 1.07 points to trade at 51.68 at the close. Meanwhile, Bouygues SA (EPA:BOUY) added 1.93% or 0.71 points to end at 37.45 and Pernod Ricard SA (EPA:PERP) was up 1.69% or 1.54 points to 92.86 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Publicis Groupe SA (EPA:PUBP), which fell 3.99% or 3.48 points to trade at 83.82 at the close. Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (EPA:MICP) declined 1.64% or 0.50 points to end at 30.06 and Renault SA (EPA:RENA) was down 1.57% or 0.70 points to 43.86.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (EPA:STDM) which rose 10.67% to 191.35, Verallia (EPA:VRLA) which was up 4.96% to settle at 28.76 and Virbac SA (EPA:VIRB) which gained 2.86% to close at 306.00.
The worst performers were Eutelsat Communications SA (EPA:ETL) which was down 6.78% to 3.85 in late trade, Valneva (EPA:VLS) which lost 5.83% to settle at 3.00 and Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) which was down 4.44% to 5.38 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 240 to 232 and 97 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bouygues SA (EPA:BOUY) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.93% or 0.71 to 37.45.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 3.12% or 101.11 to $3,341.51 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.86% or 1.14 to hit $62.47 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.76% or 1.14 to trade at $65.81 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.91% to 1.14, while EUR/GBP rose 0.79% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.77% at 99.19.
