Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Utilities, Basic Materials and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.66%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.78%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Societe Generale (PA:SOGN), which rose 2.49% or 1.22 points to trade at 50.02 at the close. Meanwhile, Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) added 2.39% or 1.50 points to end at 64.28 and BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) was up 2.04% or 1.31 points to 65.67 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP), which fell 0.37% or 0.85 points to trade at 229.80 at the close. Legrand SA (PA:LEGD) declined 0.34% or 0.21 points to end at 61.10 and Vinci SA (PA:SGEF) was down 0.33% or 0.25 points to 76.65.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were GTT (PA:GTT) which rose 5.20% to 36.95, Soitec SA (PA:SOIT) which was up 3.60% to settle at 46.100 and Electricite de France SA (PA:EDF) which gained 3.20% to close at 9.23.
The worst performers were Iliad (PA:ILD) which was down 0.97% to 224.90 in late trade, Gecina Nom. (PA:GFCP) which lost 0.88% to settle at 134.45 and Numericable SFR SA (PA:SFRGR) which was down 0.73% to 29.950 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 452 to 164 and 96 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 8.33% to 15.25.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.12% or 1.47 to $1251.33 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.19% or 1.08 to hit $50.43 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.19% or 1.15 to trade at $53.66 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.77% to 1.1188, while EUR/GBP rose 0.12% to 0.8595.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.61% at 97.17.
