Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Healthcare and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.60% to hit a new 52-week high, while the SBF 120 index added 0.67%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Vivendi SA (PA:VIV), which rose 6.48% or 1.15 points to trade at 18.89 at the close. Meanwhile, Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) added 4.35% or 2.66 points to end at 63.74 and Essilor International Compagnie Generale d’Optique SA (PA:ESSI) was up 3.24% or 3.25 points to 103.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which fell 5.66% or 0.461 points to trade at 7.681 at the close. AXA SA (PA:AXAF) declined 1.72% or 0.42 points to end at 23.95 and Orange SA (PA:ORAN) was down 1.71% or 0.23 points to 13.50.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Gemalto (AS:GTO) which rose 7.57% to 52.96, Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) which was up 6.48% to settle at 18.89 and Elior Group (PA:ELIOR) which gained 4.83% to close at 20.50.
The worst performers were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) which was down 5.66% to 7.681 in late trade, Neopost (PA:NPOS) which lost 2.24% to settle at 30.15 and Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was down 2.14% to 5.575 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 370 to 212 and 79 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 1.48% to 14.58.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.91% or 10.65 to $1161.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.36% or 0.69 to hit $51.53 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.67% or 0.36 to trade at $54.25 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.73% to 1.0539, while EUR/GBP fell 0.75% to 0.8378.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.59% at 101.71.
