Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Healthcare and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 4.24%, while the SBF 120 index added 4.12%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were AXA SA (EPA:AXAF), which rose 7.13% or 1.59 points to trade at 23.82 at the close. Meanwhile, Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) added 7.10% or 1.20 points to end at 18.09 and EssilorLuxottica SA (EPA:ESLX) was up 6.96% or 9.90 points to 152.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Thales (EPA:TCFP), which rose 0.26% or 0.30 points to trade at 114.40 at the close. Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY) added 0.26% or 0.21 points to end at 80.01 and Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) was up 0.79% or 0.07 points to 9.49.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Ovh Groupe SAS (EPA:OVH) which rose 10.98% to 11.06, Valneva (EPA:VLS) which was up 8.35% to settle at 5.76 and Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which gained 8.06% to close at 9.25.
The worst performers were Metropole Television SA (EPA:MMTP) which was down 10.84% to 11.10 in late trade, BIC (EPA:BICP) which lost 0.31% to settle at 63.60 and Gaztransport et Technigaz SA (EPA:GTT) which was down 0.26% to 113.20 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 412 to 141 and 79 ended unchanged.
Shares in Metropole Television SA (EPA:MMTP) fell to 52-week lows; falling 10.84% or 1.35 to 11.10.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.78% or 30.30 to $1,732.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 3.31% or 2.77 to hit $86.40 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 3.11% or 2.76 to trade at $91.62 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.48% to 1.00, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.35% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.21% at 110.30.
