Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrials, Financials and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 3.83%, while the SBF 120 index gained 3.72%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Publicis Groupe SA (EPA:PUBP), which rose 7.46% or 5.70 points to trade at 82.08 at the close. Meanwhile, Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (EPA:SGOB) added 7.03% or 5.38 points to end at 81.94 and Safran SA (EPA:SAF) was up 5.74% or 11.50 points to 212.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Orange SA (EPA:ORAN), which rose 0.46% or 0.06 points to trade at 11.99 at the close. Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) added 0.58% or 0.27 points to end at 46.83 and Danone SA (EPA:DANO) was up 0.86% or 0.60 points to 70.32.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Publicis Groupe SA (EPA:PUBP) which rose 7.46% to 82.08, Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (EPA:SGOB) which was up 7.03% to settle at 81.94 and Valeo SA (EPA:VLOF) which gained 6.93% to close at 7.28.
The worst performers were Ubisoft Entertainment (EPA:UBIP) which was down 5.80% to 8.38 in late trade, Voltalia SA (EPA:VLTSA) which lost 3.93% to settle at 6.33 and SES (EPA:SESFd) which was down 1.49% to 4.91 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 407 to 103 and 65 ended unchanged.
Shares in Ubisoft Entertainment (EPA:UBIP) fell to 5-year lows; losing 5.80% or 0.52 to 8.38.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 3.01% or 92.66 to $3,172.06 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 4.70% or 2.93 to hit $59.42 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 4.17% or 2.73 to trade at $62.75 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 2.11% to 1.12, while EUR/GBP rose 1.19% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.72% at 100.86.
