Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 2.40%, while the SBF 120 index gained 2.47%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Total SA (PA:TOTF), which rose 7.94% or 2.42 points to trade at 32.91 at the close. Meanwhile, WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) added 6.67% or 3.25 points to end at 51.94 and Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) was up 6.22% or 5.10 points to 87.14 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP), which fell 2.13% or 2.90 points to trade at 133.30 at the close. L’Oreal SA (PA:OREP) declined 0.80% or 2.00 points to end at 248.20 and Sodexo SA (PA:EXHO) was down 0.15% or 0.10 points to 67.40.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Rexel (PA:RXL) which rose 8.42% to 8.81, Trigano SA (PA:TRIA) which was up 8.07% to settle at 68.95 and Total SA (PA:TOTF) which gained 7.94% to close at 32.91.
The worst performers were Lagardere SCA (PA:LAGA) which was down 5.92% to 14.30 in late trade, Spie SA (PA:SPIE) which lost 3.36% to settle at 12.66 and Virbac SA (PA:VIRB) which was down 2.57% to 167.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 428 to 150 and 71 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 8.28% to 33.99.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.27% or 4.70 to $1708.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 21.14% or 4.31 to hit $24.70 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 13.27% or 3.61 to trade at $30.81 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.60% to 1.0841, while EUR/GBP fell 0.58% to 0.8712.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 99.838.
