Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.88%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.77%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Carrefour SA (PA:CARR), which rose 4.58% or 0.67 points to trade at 15.29 at the close. Meanwhile, Safran SA (PA:SAF) added 3.45% or 4.90 points to end at 147.00 and STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) was up 2.74% or 0.74 points to 27.74 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Renault SA (PA:RENA), which fell 1.93% or 0.71 points to trade at 36.27 at the close. Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP) declined 0.97% or 1.60 points to end at 164.20 and Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) was down 0.60% or 0.15 points to 24.83.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) which rose 4.58% to 15.29, Biomerieux SA (PA:BIOX) which was up 3.91% to settle at 89.00 and Soitec SA (PA:SOIT) which gained 3.47% to close at 87.95.
The worst performers were Ipsen SA (PA:IPN) which was down 23.39% to 64.05 in late trade, Remy Cointreau (PA:RCOP) which lost 11.65% to settle at 98.95 and Genfit (PA:GNFT) which was down 4.61% to 16.55 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 338 to 229 and 84 ended unchanged.
Shares in Renault SA (PA:RENA) fell to 5-year lows; losing 1.93% or 0.71 to 36.27. Shares in STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) rose to 5-year highs; rising 2.74% or 0.74 to 27.74. Shares in Ipsen SA (PA:IPN) fell to 3-years lows; falling 23.39% or 19.55 to 64.05. Shares in Biomerieux SA (PA:BIOX) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.91% or 3.35 to 89.00. Shares in Remy Cointreau (PA:RCOP) fell to 52-week lows; losing 11.65% or 13.05 to 98.95.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 2.74% to 13.24.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.39% or 6.05 to $1571.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 2.57% or 1.43 to hit $54.16 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 2.45% or 1.52 to trade at $60.52 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.22% to 1.1027, while EUR/GBP rose 0.11% to 0.8430.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 97.678.
