Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Basic Materials and Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.73%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.73%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN), which rose 4.43% or 1.05 points to trade at 24.87 at the close. Meanwhile, TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF) added 2.86% or 1.50 points to end at 53.95 and Safran SA (EPA:SAF) was up 2.86% or 2.63 points to 94.72 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS), which fell 0.97% or 10.00 points to trade at 1,020.50 at the close. Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN) declined 0.85% or 1.06 points to end at 123.00 and Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) was down 0.46% or 0.05 points to 11.76.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Faurecia (EPA:EPED) which rose 5.91% to 23.64, Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN) which was up 4.43% to settle at 24.87 and Technip Energies BV (EPA:TE) which gained 4.41% to close at 12.20.
The worst performers were Sodexo SA (EPA:EXHO) which was down 4.90% to 68.26 in late trade, Mcphy Energy (EPA:MCPHY) which lost 3.62% to settle at 15.43 and ICADE (EPA:ICAD) which was down 1.78% to 55.15 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 284 to 240 and 109 ended unchanged.
Shares in TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF) rose to 3-years highs; rising 2.86% or 1.50 to 53.95.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.16% or 21.61 to $1,843.79 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.32% or 0.35 to hit $110.12 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.30% or 0.33 to trade at $111.02 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.74% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP fell 0.74% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.50% at 102.38.
