Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Utilities and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.64%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.66%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Safran SA (EPA:SAF), which rose 3.88% or 3.60 points to trade at 96.47 at the close. Meanwhile, Renault SA (EPA:RENA) added 2.35% or 0.60 points to end at 25.86 and Airbus Group SE (EPA:AIR) was up 1.86% or 1.73 points to 94.94 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Capgemini SE (EPA:CAPP), which fell 3.48% or 6.30 points to trade at 174.70 at the close. STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STM) declined 1.32% or 0.42 points to end at 31.43 and L’Oreal SA (EPA:OREP) was down 1.08% or 3.60 points to 330.95.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Electricite de France SA (EPA:EDF) which rose 4.68% to 8.15, Valeo SA (EPA:VLOF) which was up 4.04% to settle at 20.08 and Safran SA (EPA:SAF) which gained 3.88% to close at 96.47.
The worst performers were Valneva (EPA:VLS) which was down 8.86% to 11.63 in late trade, Capgemini SE (EPA:CAPP) which lost 3.48% to settle at 174.70 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) which was down 1.97% to 29.36 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 304 to 239 and 88 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.10% or 1.90 to $1,822.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.24% or 2.45 to hit $112.02 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 2.67% or 2.96 to trade at $113.94 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.57% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.03% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.52% at 104.22.
