France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.62%

Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.62%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.29%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Air Liquide SA (PA:AIRP), which rose 5.33% or 5.70 points to trade at 112.60 at the close. Meanwhile, STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) added 4.95% or 0.92 points to end at 19.40 and Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) was up 4.56% or 3.51 points to 80.51 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR), which fell 10.62% or 7.24 points to trade at 60.93 at the close. WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) declined 8.78% or 4.72 points to end at 49.06 and BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) was down 5.44% or 1.62 points to 28.25.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Nexans SA (PA:NEXS) which rose 5.90% to 27.63, Air Liquide SA (PA:AIRP) which was up 5.33% to settle at 112.60 and Metropole Television SA (PA:MMTP) which gained 5.03% to close at 10.45.

The worst performers were Natixis (PA:CNAT) which was down 10.66% to 3.12 in late trade, Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR) which lost 10.62% to settle at 60.93 and Rexel (PA:RXL) which was down 9.35% to 7.00 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 331 to 258 and 71 ended unchanged.

Shares in WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) fell to 5-year lows; down 8.78% or 4.72 to 49.06.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 9.56% to 48.89.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.89% or 14.70 to $1639.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 5.25% or 1.13 to hit $20.38 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 6.51% or 1.82 to trade at $26.13 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 1.09% to 1.1019, while EUR/GBP fell 0.54% to 0.8896.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.77% at 99.295.
