France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.53%

Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.53%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.87%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM), which rose 4.19% or 1.27 points to trade at 31.55 at the close. Meanwhile, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) added 4.41% or 0.83 points to end at 19.71 and Teleperformance SE (PA:TEPRF) was up 3.69% or 10.00 points to 281.30 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which fell 4.83% or 3.12 points to trade at 61.46 at the close. Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) declined 2.75% or 0.47 points to end at 16.55 and Kering SA (PA:PRTP) was down 2.07% or 12.30 points to 582.10.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Solutions 30 SE (PA:S30) which rose 5.70% to 11.12, Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) which was up 5.66% to settle at 45.35 and Eurofins Scientific SE (PA:EUFI) which gained 4.94% to close at 72.02.

The worst performers were Aeroports de Paris SA (PA:ADP) which was down 5.84% to 99.90 in late trade, Elior Group (PA:ELIOR) which lost 4.89% to settle at 5.25 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) which was down 4.83% to 61.46 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 402 to 210 and 66 ended unchanged.

Shares in ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) rose to 52-week highs; up 4.41% or 0.83 to 19.71. Shares in Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) rose to 52-week highs; up 5.66% or 2.43 to 45.35.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 1-month low.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 2.75% or 52.05 to $1947.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 1.81% or 0.88 to hit $47.64 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.33% or 0.69 to trade at $51.11 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 1.11% to 1.2272, while EUR/GBP rose 0.97% to 0.9038.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 89.733.
