Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials, Utilities and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.50%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.52%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were BNP Paribas SA (EPA:BNPP), which rose 2.95% or 2.30 points to trade at 80.21 at the close. Meanwhile, Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN) added 2.48% or 1.03 points to end at 42.75 and STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA) was up 2.40% or 0.55 points to 23.48 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Vivendi SA (EPA:VIV), which fell 2.66% or 0.07 points to trade at 2.71 at the close. Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS) declined 1.61% or 40.00 points to end at 2,446.00 and Danone SA (EPA:DANO) was down 1.36% or 0.98 points to 70.82.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Solutions 30 SE (EPA:S30) which rose 10.40% to 1.89, Clariane SE (EPA:CLARI) which was up 6.26% to settle at 4.48 and Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) which gained 4.86% to close at 25.45.
The worst performers were Rubis SCA (EPA:RUBF) which was down 7.40% to 25.28 in late trade, Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which unchanged 7.32% to settle at 0.00 and SES (EPA:SESFd) which was down 6.69% to 5.51 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 245 to 231 and 94 ended unchanged.
Shares in BNP Paribas SA (EPA:BNPP) rose to 5-year highs; up 2.95% or 2.30 to 80.21. Shares in Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN) rose to 5-year highs; rising 2.48% or 1.03 to 42.75.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.25% or 37.61 to $3,043.71 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.05% or 0.71 to hit $66.66 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.90% or 0.64 to trade at $70.43 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.21% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.13% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 102.90.
