Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.45% to hit a new 5-year high, while the SBF 120 index added 0.53%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM), which rose 2.84% or 0.85 points to trade at 30.94 at the close. Meanwhile, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) added 2.33% or 0.61 points to end at 26.99 and Atos SE (PA:ATOS) was up 1.96% or 1.08 points to 56.24 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were AXA SA (PA:AXAF), which fell 5.92% or 1.43 points to trade at 22.73 at the close. Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) declined 1.67% or 0.22 points to end at 12.87 and Thales (PA:TCFP) was down 0.72% or 0.62 points to 86.04.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Mcphy Energy (PA:MCPHY) which rose 8.16% to 28.90, DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which was up 4.60% to settle at 10.69 and Albioma SA (PA:ABIO) which gained 4.42% to close at 36.86.
The worst performers were Rubis SCA (PA:RUBF) which was down 6.11% to 37.48 in late trade, AXA SA (PA:AXAF) which lost 5.92% to settle at 22.73 and Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (PA:CASP) which was down 2.64% to 28.36 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 349 to 237 and 76 ended unchanged.
Shares in ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) rose to 52-week highs; rising 2.33% or 0.61 to 26.99.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 3-months low.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.10% or 19.90 to $1835.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.42% or 0.27 to hit $64.98 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.47% or 0.32 to trade at $68.41 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.82% to 1.2164, while EUR/GBP rose 0.05% to 0.8690.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.80% at 90.207.
