Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.39% to hit a new 5-year high, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.37%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Carrefour SA (PA:CARR), which rose 2.72% or 0.42 points to trade at 15.86 at the close. Meanwhile, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) added 2.21% or 0.322 points to end at 14.900 and Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) was up 1.71% or 0.67 points to 39.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Vinci SA (PA:SGEF), which fell 1.22% or 1.25 points to trade at 101.15 at the close. Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) declined 1.20% or 0.280 points to end at 22.960 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was down 1.18% or 0.17 points to 14.71.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Compagnie Plastic Omnium SA (PA:PLOF) which rose 5.61% to 26.94, Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) which was up 5.27% to settle at 50.34 and Teleperformance SE (PA:TEPRF) which gained 3.82% to close at 211.80.
The worst performers were Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which was down 5.68% to 9.970 in late trade, Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) which lost 2.17% to settle at 38.27 and Nexans SA (PA:NEXS) which was down 1.63% to 36.75 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 303 to 271 and 84 ended unchanged.
Shares in Teleperformance SE (PA:TEPRF) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.82% or 7.80 to 211.80.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 3.11% to 13.14.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.71% or 25.85 to $1485.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.10% or 0.62 to hit $57.16 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.09% or 0.68 to trade at $62.81 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.52% to 1.1068, while EUR/GBP fell 0.42% to 0.8598.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.43% at 97.780.
