Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.17%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.13%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP), which rose 1.93% or 0.73 points to trade at 38.62 at the close. Meanwhile, Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) added 1.54% or 1.60 points to end at 105.20 and Total SA (PA:TOTF) was up 1.52% or 0.70 points to 47.19 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Atos SE (PA:ATOS), which fell 3.50% or 2.36 points to trade at 65.14 at the close. Thales (PA:TCFP) declined 2.65% or 2.40 points to end at 88.10 and Accor SA (PA:ACCP) was down 2.13% or 0.83 points to 38.07.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) which rose 1.93% to 38.62, Ingenico Group SA (PA:INGC) which was up 1.71% to settle at 91.58 and Ipsos (PA:ISOS) which gained 1.69% to close at 27.10.
The worst performers were Imerys SA (PA:IMTP) which was down 13.01% to 32.64 in late trade, Atos SE (PA:ATOS) which lost 3.50% to settle at 65.14 and Ipsen SA (PA:IPN) which was down 3.47% to 93.20 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 291 to 262 and 104 ended unchanged.
Shares in Thales (PA:TCFP) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.65% or 2.40 to 88.10. Shares in Imerys SA (PA:IMTP) fell to 5-year lows; losing 13.01% or 4.88 to 32.64.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 2.48% to 14.30.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.06% or 0.85 to $1487.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.53% or 0.82 to hit $54.33 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.02% or 0.60 to trade at $59.56 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.06% to 1.1141, while EUR/GBP rose 0.01% to 0.8602.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 97.107.
