Dollar rebounds; doubts over Powell’s future prompted volatility
Investing.com – Finland stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Helsinki, the OMX Helsinki 25 declined 0.21%.
The best performers of the session on the OMX Helsinki 25 were Orion Oyj B (HE:ORNBV), which rose 1.51% or 0.95 points to trade at 63.90 at the close. Meanwhile, KONE Oyj (HE:KNEBV) added 1.37% or 0.76 points to end at 56.36 and TietoEVRY Corp (HE:TIETO) was up 0.81% or 0.13 points to 16.19 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Outokumpu Oyj (HE:OUT1V), which fell 2.33% or 0.08 points to trade at 3.36 at the close. Nokian Renkaat Oyj (HE:TYRES) declined 1.93% or 0.13 points to end at 6.35 and UPM-Kymmene Oyj (HE:UPM) was down 1.85% or 0.44 points to 23.32.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Helsinki Stock Exchange by 110 to 59 and 19 ended unchanged.
Shares in Orion Oyj B (HE:ORNBV) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.51% or 0.95 to 63.90.
Brent oil for August delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $69.77 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.35% or 0.24 to hit $68.39 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 1.89% or 63.32 to trade at $3,407.02 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.77% to 1.16, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.50% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.67% at 97.94.
