Investing.com – Finland stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Technology and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Helsinki, the OMX Helsinki 25 gained 0.58%.
The best performers of the session on the OMX Helsinki 25 were Metsa Board Oyj B (HE:METSB), which rose 2.42% or 0.145 points to trade at 6.125 at the close. Meanwhile, Metso Oyj (HE:METSO) added 1.60% or 0.42 points to end at 26.70 and Neste Oil Oyj (HE:NESTE) was up 1.60% or 0.61 points to 38.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Elisa Oyj (HE:ELISA), which fell 0.90% or 0.27 points to trade at 29.62 at the close. Tieto Oyj (HE:TIE1V) declined 0.71% or 0.17 points to end at 23.94 and YIT Oyj (HE:YTY1V) was down 0.53% or 0.04 points to 7.55.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Helsinki Stock Exchange by 85 to 81 and 28 ended unchanged.
Brent oil for February delivery was up 8.73% or 4.13 to $51.45 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 8.36% or 3.78 to hit $49.01 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 1.29% or 15.35 to trade at $1175.45 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.56% to 1.0590, while EUR/GBP fell 0.52% to 0.8481.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.62% at 101.61.
