On Tuesday, Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) CEO, Elon Musk’s transportation infrastructure and tunnel construction service, Boring Company, applied for a permit to dig a tunnel under Tesla’s Gigafactory in Austin, Texas.
The project is called the “Colorado River Connector Tunnel.” In the description, the application only says that “The applicant is proposing a private access tunnel along with associated improvements.”
The Boring Company’s biggest project is its “Vegas Loop,” a system of tunnels in which Tesla electric vehicles move people between stations to avoid surface traffic. The idea has been described as “like a subway but with smaller vehicles.”
Over the last year, Boring Company representatives have pitched state officials on at least eight projects. The proposals range from small ideas to detailed presentations. None of the projects proposed have moved beyond the concept phase.
