Investing.com – China stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Gas, Water & Multiutilities, Retailers and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite lost 6.50%, while the SZSE Component index fell 6.19%.
The best performers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were Zijin Mining (SS:601899), which rose 10.07% or 0.580 points to trade at 6.340 at the close. Meanwhile, Js Future Land (SS:900950) added 10.05% or 0.107 points to end at 1.172 and Gong Da Tech (SS:600701) was up 10.03% or 1.740 points to 19.090 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Wuhan Steel (SS:600005), which fell 10.05% or 0.660 points to trade at 5.910 at the close. Dongfeng Auto (SS:600006) declined 10.04% or 1.120 points to end at 10.040 and China East Air SS (SS:600115) was down 10.04% or 0.970 points to 8.690.
The top performers on the SZSE Component were BOE Technology Group Co Ltd (SZ:000725) which rose 4.45% to 5.16, Pangang Group Vanadium Titanium & Resources Co Ltd (SZ:000629) which was unchanged 0% to settle at 4.94 and Suzhou Gold Mantis Construction Decoration Co Ltd (SZ:002081) which unchanged 0% to close at 32.53.
The worst performers were Suning Commerce Group Co Ltd (SZ:002024) which was down 10.02% to 19.13 in late trade, Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Co Ltd (SZ:002415) which lost 10.00% to settle at 45.18 and Huayi Brothers Media Corp (SZ:300027) which was down 10.00% to 42.11 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Shanghai Stock Exchange by 870 to 83.
Shares in Zijin Mining (SS:601899) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 10.07% or 0.580 to 6.340. Shares in Js Future Land (SS:900950) rose to all time highs; rising 10.05% or 0.107 to 1.172. Shares in Gong Da Tech (SS:600701) rose to all time highs; gaining 10.03% or 1.740 to 19.090. Shares in BOE Technology Group Co Ltd (SZ:000725) rose to 52-week highs; up 4.45% or 0.22 to 5.16.
The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was down 1.66% to 30.76.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.24% or 2.90 to $1189.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.04% or 0.03 to hit $57.48 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.23% or 0.14 to trade at $62.20 a barrel.
USD/CNY was down 0.03% to 6.1996, while EUR/CNY rose 0.12% to 6.7700.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 97.23.
