China stocks lower at close of trade; Shanghai Composite down 1.13%

Investing.com – China stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Media and Retailers sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite fell 1.13%, while the SZSE Component index fell 0.69%.

The best performers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were China Shipping (SS:601866), which rose 10.05% or 1.050 points to trade at 11.500 at the close. Meanwhile, Merchants Ship (SS:601872) added 10.03% or 1.010 points to end at 11.080 and Cn First Heavy (SS:601106) was up 10.03% or 1.370 points to 15.030 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Bohai Ferry (SS:603167), which fell 10.01% or 1.880 points to trade at 16.910 at the close. Hundsun Tech (SS:600570) declined 10.00% or 12.140 points to end at 109.300 and Tianchen Co (SS:600620) was down 10.00% or 2.310 points to 20.800.

The top performers on the SZSE Component were Gree Electric Appliances Inc of Zhuhai (SZ:000651) which rose 10.01% to 56.39, Iflytek Co Ltd (SZ:002230) which was up 10.01% to settle at 49.80 and Leshi Internet Info Tech (SZ:300104) which gained 8.92% to close at 122.00.

The worst performers were Pangang Group Vanadium Titanium & Resources Co Ltd (SZ:000629) which was down 8.13% to 5.31 in late trade, Suzhou Gold Mantis Construction Decoration Co Ltd (SZ:002081) which lost 7.12% to settle at 30.01 and Yantai Jereh Oilfield Services Group Co Ltd (SZ:002353) which was down 6.57% to 38.14 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Shanghai Stock Exchange by 802 to 160.

Shares in China Shipping (SS:601866) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 10.05% or 1.050 to 11.500. Shares in Merchants Ship (SS:601872) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 10.03% or 1.010 to 11.080. Shares in Cn First Heavy (SS:601106) rose to all time highs; rising 10.03% or 1.370 to 15.030. Shares in Gree Electric Appliances Inc of Zhuhai (SZ:000651) rose to all time highs; rising 10.01% or 5.13 to 56.39. Shares in Iflytek Co Ltd (SZ:002230) rose to all time highs; gaining 10.01% or 4.53 to 49.80. Shares in Leshi Internet Info Tech (SZ:300104) rose to all time highs; up 8.92% or 9.99 to 122.00.

The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was up 2.60% to 33.89.

Gold for June delivery was down 0.22% or 2.70 to $1200.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.11% or 0.64 to hit $56.35 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.90% or 0.58 to trade at $64.25 a barrel.

USD/CNY was down 0.20% to 6.2065, while EUR/CNY fell 0.16% to 6.7582.

The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 96.89.
