China stocks lower at close of trade; Shanghai Composite down 0.91%

Investing.com – China stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Software & Computer Services and Technology sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite fell 0.91% to hit a new 52-week low, while the SZSE Component index fell 1.92%.

The best performers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were Shanghai Greencourt Investment Group Co Ltd A (SS:600695), which rose 10.08% or 0.37 points to trade at 4.04 at the close. Meanwhile, Start Group (SS:600734) added 10.06% or 0.630 points to end at 6.890 and China United Travel Co Ltd (SS:600358) was up 10.02% or 0.46 points to 5.05 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Guangzhou Yuetai Group Co Ltd (SS:600393), which fell 10.12% or 0.350 points to trade at 3.110 at the close. Xining Special Steel Co Ltd (SS:600117) declined 10.06% or 0.520 points to end at 4.650 and Shanghai Hongda Mining Co Ltd (SS:600532) was down 10.04% or 0.470 points to 4.210.

The top performers on the SZSE Component were Beijing Jingxi Culture&Tourism Co Ltd (SZ:000802) which rose 8.93% to 14.52, Csg Smart Science&Technology Co Ltd (SZ:300222) which was up 5.46% to settle at 19.30 and Beijing Oriental Yuhong Waterproof Technology Co Ltd (SZ:002271) which gained 3.00% to close at 15.13.

The worst performers were Anhui Shengyun Environment-Protection Group Co Ltd (SZ:300090) which was down 10.05% to 5.46 in late trade, Xingyuan Environment Technology Co Ltd (SZ:300266) which lost 10.02% to settle at 13.11 and Shenzhen Jiawei Photovoltaic Lighting Co Ltd (SZ:300317) which was down 9.96% to 8.68 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Shanghai Stock Exchange by 1250 to 143 and 17 ended unchanged.

Shares in Guangzhou Yuetai Group Co Ltd (SS:600393) fell to 5-year lows; down 10.12% or 0.350 to 3.110. Shares in Shanghai Hongda Mining Co Ltd (SS:600532) fell to 5-year lows; losing 10.04% or 0.470 to 4.210. Shares in Anhui Shengyun Environment-Protection Group Co Ltd (SZ:300090) fell to 5-year lows; falling 10.05% or 0.61 to 5.46. Shares in Xingyuan Environment Technology Co Ltd (SZ:300266) fell to 3-years lows; down 10.02% or 1.46 to 13.11. Shares in Shenzhen Jiawei Photovoltaic Lighting Co Ltd (SZ:300317) fell to 3-years lows; losing 9.96% or 0.96 to 8.68.

The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was unchanged 0.00% to 26.34.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.13% or 1.60 to $1255.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.27% or 0.20 to hit $73.94 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.47% or 0.37 to trade at $77.87 a barrel.

USD/CNY was up 0.03% to 6.6356, while EUR/CNY rose 0.35% to 7.7580.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 94.11.
