Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Energy and Clean Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite declined 0.32%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Bombardier Inc (TO:BBDb), which rose 4.72% or 0.110 points to trade at 2.440 at the close. Meanwhile, BRP Inc. (TO:DOO) added 3.19% or 1.01 points to end at 32.68 and Saputo Inc . (TO:SAP) was up 2.13% or 0.93 points to 44.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Element Fleet Management Corp (TO:EFN), which fell 6.70% or 0.72 points to trade at 10.10 at the close. Bonavista Energy Corp (TO:BNP) declined 6.25% or 0.190 points to end at 2.850 and Crew Energy Inc (TO:CR) was down 5.96% or 0.26 points to 4.10.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 686 to 448 and 134 ended unchanged.
Shares in Element Fleet Management Corp (TO:EFN) fell to 52-week lows; down 6.70% or 0.72 to 10.10.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 21.16% to 12.94.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.42% or 5.30 to $1262.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.60% or 0.30 to hit $49.50 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.04% or 0.55 to trade at $52.09 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.05% to 0.7429, while CAD/EUR fell 0.29% to 0.6638.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 97.18.
