Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Energy, Telecoms and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite lost 0.05%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Sierra Wireless Inc . (TO:SW), which rose 18.32% or 3.87 points to trade at 24.99 at the close. Meanwhile, Parkland Fuel Corporation (TO:PKI) added 8.67% or 3.05 points to end at 38.24 and Bombardier Inc (TO:BBDb) was up 4.07% or 0.200 points to 5.110 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sleep Country Canada Holdings Inc (TO:ZZZ), which fell 5.25% or 1.72 points to trade at 30.93 at the close. MEG Energy Corp (TO:MEG) declined 3.83% or 0.34 points to end at 8.54 and Cott Corporation (TO:BCB) was down 3.01% or 0.62 points to 19.99.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 484 to 417 and 131 ended unchanged.
Shares in Parkland Fuel Corporation (TO:PKI) rose to all time highs; up 8.67% or 3.05 to 38.24.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 7.44% to 12.86.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.41% or 5.00 to $1225.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.91% or 0.63 to hit $68.33 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.31% or 0.23 to trade at $73.22 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.38% to 0.7708, while CAD/EUR rose 0.33% to 0.6651.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 94.88.
