Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare, IT and REITs sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite gained 0.12%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were ProMetic Life Sciences Inc. (TO:PLI), which rose 7.05% or 0.110 points to trade at 1.670 at the close. Meanwhile, Bombardier Inc (TO:BBDb) added 6.83% or 0.140 points to end at 2.190 and Northview Apartment REIT (TO:NVU_u) was up 4.56% or 0.86 points to 19.71 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (TO:IVN), which fell 10.63% or 0.270 points to trade at 2.270 at the close. HudBay Minerals Inc. (TO:HBM) declined 6.72% or 0.55 points to end at 7.64 and Lundin Mining Corporation (TO:LUN) was down 5.64% or 0.380 points to 6.360.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 636 to 589 and 105 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bombardier Inc (TO:BBDb) rose to 52-week highs; rising 6.83% or 0.140 to 2.190.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 47.83% to 9.89.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.33% or 3.70 to $1141.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.28% or 0.15 to hit $52.80 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.87% or 0.48 to trade at $54.73 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.59% to 0.7454, while CAD/EUR fell 0.08% to 0.7168.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.18% at 103.11.
