Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the REITs, Healthcare and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite rose 0.80%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Sleep Country Canada Holdings Inc (TSX:ZZZ), which rose 27.09% or 7.39 points to trade at 34.67 at the close. Meanwhile, Tilray Inc (TSX:TLRY) added 6.88% or 0.17 points to end at 2.64 and Northwest Healthcare Properties REIT (TSX:NWH_u) was up 5.31% or 0.26 points to 5.16 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (TSX:IVN), which fell 3.00% or 0.57 points to trade at 18.42 at the close. Lundin Mining Corporation (TSX:LUN) declined 2.78% or 0.40 points to end at 13.99 and Capstone Mining Corp (TSX:CS) was down 2.58% or 0.24 points to 9.06.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 677 to 266 and 85 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sleep Country Canada Holdings Inc (TSX:ZZZ) rose to 52-week highs; up 27.09% or 7.39 to 34.67.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 0.37% to 10.81.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.04% or 0.95 to $2,400.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.33% or 0.26 to hit $78.38 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.28% or 0.23 to trade at $82.40 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.29% to 0.73, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.30% to 0.67.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 104.05.
