Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the IT, Industrials and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite rose 0.46%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Intertape Polymer Group Inc . (TO:ITP), which rose 8.50% or 1.70 points to trade at 21.71 at the close. Meanwhile, Linamar Corporation (TO:LNR) added 8.44% or 5.74 points to end at 73.75 and Dorel Industries Inc (TO:DIIb) was up 6.60% or 1.89 points to 30.54 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Paramount Resources Ltd . (TO:POU), which fell 5.51% or 0.99 points to trade at 16.99 at the close. Great Canadian Gaming Corporation (TO:GC) declined 5.19% or 1.98 points to end at 36.17 and Cominar Real Estate Investment Trust (TO:CUF_u) was down 5.16% or 0.71 points to 13.05.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 637 to 444 and 130 ended unchanged.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 3.30% to 14.66 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.38% or 5.00 to $1322.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.39% or 0.85 to hit $60.30 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.78% or 0.50 to trade at $63.84 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.10% to 0.7753, while CAD/EUR rose 0.91% to 0.6297.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.61% at 90.11.
