Bitcoin price today: reaches new record high over $122k ahead of ’crypto week’
Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Clean Technology, IT and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite rose 0.24%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Denison Mines Corp (TSX:DML), which rose 13.00% or 0.29 points to trade at 2.52 at the close. Meanwhile, Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (TSX:IVN) added 8.30% or 0.82 points to end at 10.70 and Algoma Steel Group Inc (TSX:ASTL) was up 6.59% or 0.55 points to 8.89 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were G Mining Ventures Corp (TSX:GMIN), which fell 6.21% or 1.24 points to trade at 18.72 at the close. Torex Gold Resources Inc (TSX:TXG) declined 4.66% or 2.25 points to end at 46.08 and Parex Resources Inc (TSX:PXT) was down 4.35% or 0.68 points to 14.97.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 513 to 377 and 83 ended unchanged.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 4.06% to 9.22 a new 6-months low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.40% or 48.43 to $3,404.37 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.78% or 1.27 to hit $70.02 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.67% or 1.24 to trade at $72.99 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 0.74, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.02% to 0.64.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 97.69.
