Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials, Real Estate and Electric Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 3.25%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5), which rose 13.57% or 1.44 points to trade at 12.05 at the close. Meanwhile, Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) added 11.12% or 2.83 points to end at 28.28 and Vale SA (SA:VALE5) was up 8.21% or 1.89 points to 24.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banco Bradesco SA Pref (SA:BBDC4), which fell 8.92% or 2.84 points to trade at 29.01 at the close. CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4) declined 8.84% or 0.80 points to end at 8.25 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) was down 8.67% or 1.310 points to 13.800.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 251 to 160 and 21 ended unchanged.
Shares in Vale SA (SA:VALE5) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 8.21% or 1.89 to 24.90.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 18.78% to 40.66 a new 3-months high.
Gold for December delivery was down 1.37% or 17.50 to $1256.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.57% or 0.71 to hit $44.56 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 4.37% or 7.43 to trade at $162.50 .
USD/BRL was up 5.29% to 3.3873, while EUR/BRL rose 5.10% to 3.6895.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.15% at 98.81.
