Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Industrials, Financials and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 1.67%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were BR Malls Participacoes SA (SA:BRML3), which rose 0.81% or 0.11 points to trade at 13.66 at the close. Meanwhile, Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) added 0.50% or 0.14 points to end at 28.23 and CPFL Energia SA (SA:CPFE3) was up 0.08% or 0.02 points to 26.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3), which fell 5.00% or 0.79 points to trade at 15.00 at the close. Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) declined 4.97% or 3.53 points to end at 67.46 and Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) was down 4.04% or 0.29 points to 6.88.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 246 to 127 and 33 ended unchanged.
Shares in Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) rose to all time highs; gaining 0.50% or 0.14 to 28.23. Shares in CPFL Energia SA (SA:CPFE3) rose to 5-year highs; up 0.08% or 0.02 to 26.15.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 12.97% to 36.41.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.92% or 23.74 to $1260.14 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.72% or 0.35 to hit $49.01 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 2.28% or 3.00 to trade at $134.57 .
USD/BRL was up 1.25% to 3.1346, while EUR/BRL rose 1.95% to 3.4982.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.76% at 97.35.
