Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Real Estate and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.96%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were PDG Realty SA (SA:PDGR3), which rose 4.17% or 0.020 points to trade at 0.500 at the close. Meanwhile, Oi SA (SA:OIBR4) added 3.70% or 0.21 points to end at 5.89 and Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) was up 3.25% or 1.39 points to 44.17 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gerdau SA (SA:GGBR4), which fell 9.14% or 1.00 points to trade at 9.94 at the close. Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) declined 8.79% or 1.02 points to end at 10.59 and Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) was down 7.11% or 0.43 points to 5.62.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 146 to 118 and 8 ended unchanged.
Shares in Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.25% or 1.39 to 44.17.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 4.13% to 36.93.
Gold for April delivery was down 0.66% or 8.00 to $1196.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 5.98% or 3.08 to hit $48.35 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 1.57% or 2.20 to trade at $137.90 .
USD/BRL was up 1.92% to 3.2439, while EUR/BRL rose 1.96% to 3.5326.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 97.56.
