Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.65%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais (SA:CMIG4), which rose 3.23% or 0.21 points to trade at 6.71 at the close. Meanwhile, Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) added 3.09% or 1.02 points to end at 34.01 and Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) was up 2.95% or 0.35 points to 12.22 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4), which fell 3.09% or 0.09 points to trade at 2.82 at the close. Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) declined 2.93% or 0.19 points to end at 6.30 and Gerdau SA (SA:GGBR4) was down 2.82% or 0.22 points to 7.59.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 159 to 148 and 26 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 5.59% to 43.09.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.20% or 2.55 to $1293.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.11% or 0.97 to hit $44.95 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 1.53% or 1.86 to trade at $119.92 .
USD/BRL was up 1.83% to 3.4977, while EUR/BRL rose 2.52% to 4.0329.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.51% at 92.55.
