Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Financials, Industrials and Consumption sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.47%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4), which rose 6.18% or 1.10 points to trade at 18.89 at the close. Meanwhile, Vale SA (SA:VALE3) added 3.06% or 0.92 points to end at 30.99 and Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) was up 2.48% or 0.40 points to 16.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were BB Seguridade Participacoes SA (SA:BBSE3), which fell 4.05% or 1.15 points to trade at 27.25 at the close. Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) declined 3.88% or 0.78 points to end at 19.30 and BRF SA (SA:BRFS3) was down 2.68% or 1.26 points to 45.79.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 174 to 153 and 43 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) rose to 52-week highs; up 6.18% or 1.10 to 18.89.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.19% to 32.35 a new 1-month low.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.17% or 2.05 to $1197.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.94% or 0.50 to hit $52.51 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.47% or 0.70 to trade at $149.03 .
USD/BRL was up 1.05% to 3.2212, while EUR/BRL rose 1.36% to 3.4292.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.25% at 101.21.
