Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Consumption and Electric Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.44%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 5.43% or 0.22 points to trade at 4.27 at the close. Meanwhile, Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) added 4.20% or 0.32 points to end at 7.94 and WEG SA (SA:WEGE3) was up 3.48% or 0.60 points to 17.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4), which fell 5.02% or 0.47 points to trade at 8.90 at the close. Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) declined 3.41% or 2.31 points to end at 65.50 and Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3) was down 3.16% or 1.17 points to 35.83.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 174 to 171 and 35 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 6.42% to 31.50.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.22% or 2.81 to $1270.01 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.56% or 0.28 to hit $49.28 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 1.47% or 1.95 to trade at $130.32 .
USD/BRL was up 0.81% to 3.1728, while EUR/BRL rose 0.58% to 3.4599.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 98.84.
