Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials, Basic Materials and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.40%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which rose 4.03% or 0.47 points to trade at 12.13 at the close. Meanwhile, CCR SA (SA:CCRO3) added 3.80% or 0.59 points to end at 16.10 and Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) was up 3.29% or 1.69 points to 53.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banco Bradesco SA Pref (SA:BBDC4), which fell 3.73% or 1.21 points to trade at 31.20 at the close. Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) declined 3.40% or 0.97 points to end at 27.60 and Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) was down 2.90% or 0.63 points to 21.10.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 199 to 171 and 29 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.80% to 29.47.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.75% or 9.05 to $1217.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.46% or 0.25 to hit $53.63 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 2.73% or 4.10 to trade at $146.02 .
USD/BRL was down 0.19% to 3.1236, while EUR/BRL fell 0.29% to 3.3604.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 99.80.
