Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials, Basic Materials and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 1.86%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Tim Participacoes SA (SA:TIMP3), which rose 5.72% or 0.57 points to trade at 10.53 at the close. Meanwhile, Vale SA (SA:VALE3) added 4.78% or 0.93 points to end at 20.40 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) was up 4.49% or 0.20 points to 4.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were PDG Realty SA (SA:PDGR3), which fell 2.94% or 0.010 points to trade at 0.330 at the close. Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) declined 2.21% or 0.44 points to end at 19.50 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) was down 1.66% or 0.210 points to 12.440.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 195 to 104 and 9 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.06% to 30.01.
Gold for August delivery was up 2.09% or 24.60 to $1201.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.78% or 0.47 to hit $60.80 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 1.32% or 1.68 to trade at $128.28 .
USD/BRL was up 0.19% to 3.0589, while EUR/BRL rose 0.47% to 3.4783.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.29% at 94.21.
