Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumption, Real Estate and Public Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.90%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which rose 21.01% or 1.83 points to trade at 10.54 at the close. Meanwhile, Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais (SA:CMIG4) added 6.25% or 0.40 points to end at 6.80 and Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) was up 5.67% or 0.85 points to 15.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4), which fell 4.52% or 0.35 points to trade at 7.40 at the close. Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR4) declined 4.49% or 0.46 points to end at 9.79 and Gerdau SA (SA:GGBR4) was down 3.82% or 0.28 points to 7.05.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 189 to 125 and 20 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.50% to 40.81.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.56% or 7.20 to $1268.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.48% or 0.22 to hit $46.45 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.37% or 0.48 to trade at $130.25 .
USD/BRL was up 0.97% to 3.4832, while EUR/BRL rose 0.43% to 3.9629.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.34% at 94.12.
