Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Real Estate and Electric Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.56%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3), which rose 6.00% or 0.36 points to trade at 6.36 at the close. Meanwhile, Vale SA Pref (SA:VALE5) added 5.87% or 1.49 points to end at 26.86 and Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) was up 5.44% or 1.01 points to 19.58 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA:SBSP3), which fell 5.58% or 1.82 points to trade at 30.78 at the close. RUMO Logistica Operadora Multimodal SA (SA:RAIL3) declined 1.81% or 0.16 points to end at 8.69 and Banco Bradesco SA Pref (SA:BBDC4) was down 1.74% or 0.55 points to 31.14.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 216 to 123 and 34 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.17% to 35.64.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.03% or 0.40 to $1283.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.37% or 0.19 to hit $50.66 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 4.37% or 6.14 to trade at $134.38 .
USD/BRL was up 0.13% to 3.1570, while EUR/BRL rose 0.25% to 3.3851.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 99.70.
