Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials, Real Estate and Electric Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.53% to hit a new 3-years high.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Banco do Brasil SA (SA:BBAS3), which rose 6.31% or 1.90 points to trade at 32.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) added 5.10% or 0.32 points to end at 6.60 and Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3) was up 4.05% or 1.05 points to 26.96 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4), which fell 2.56% or 0.57 points to trade at 21.70 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) declined 2.35% or 0.53 points to end at 22.00 and BRF SA (SA:BRFS3) was down 2.17% or 1.02 points to 45.90.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 254 to 151 and 37 ended unchanged.
Shares in Banco do Brasil SA (SA:BBAS3) rose to 52-week highs; rising 6.31% or 1.90 to 32.00.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 4.19% to 29.85.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.70% or 8.35 to $1189.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.05% or 1.08 to hit $53.83 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 1.12% or 1.72 to trade at $151.38 .
USD/BRL was up 0.24% to 3.1778, while EUR/BRL fell 0.30% to 3.3973.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.53% at 100.44.
