Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate, Basic Materials and Public Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.06%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3), which rose 4.86% or 1.12 points to trade at 24.18 at the close. Meanwhile, Cyrela Brazil Realty SA (SA:CYRE3) added 3.62% or 0.41 points to end at 11.75 and Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) was up 2.66% or 1.19 points to 46.01 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3), which fell 4.27% or 0.27 points to trade at 6.06 at the close. Banco do Brasil SA (SA:BBAS3) declined 3.77% or 1.09 points to end at 27.80 and Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) was down 2.17% or 0.69 points to 31.06.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 184 to 179 and 30 ended unchanged.
Shares in Cyrela Brazil Realty SA (SA:CYRE3) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.62% or 0.41 to 11.75.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.45% to 35.06.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.81% or 9.55 to $1182.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 3.89% or 2.10 to hit $51.89 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 1.32% or 1.89 to trade at $144.57 .
USD/BRL was down 0.84% to 3.1972, while EUR/BRL fell 0.54% to 3.3772.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.16% at 102.01.
