Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Consumption sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 1.39%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Azul SA Pref (BVMF:AZUL4), which rose 12.33% or 0.37 points to trade at 3.37 at the close. Meanwhile, IRB Brasil Resseguros SA (BVMF:IRBR3) added 5.76% or 2.57 points to end at 47.20 and CSN Mineracao SA (BVMF:CMIN3) was up 4.65% or 0.27 points to 6.08 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Minerva SA/Brazil (BVMF:BEEF3), which fell 2.87% or 0.20 points to trade at 6.77 at the close. Prio SA (BVMF:PRIO3) declined 1.49% or 0.51 points to end at 33.82 and Natura & Co SA (BVMF:NTCO3) was down 1.28% or 0.12 points to 9.25.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 697 to 254 and 52 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.91% to 28.63.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.52% or 16.98 to $3,227.62 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.18% or 0.11 to hit $61.61 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract rose 1.29% or 4.60 to trade at $362.30 .
USD/BRL was down 0.16% to 5.86, while EUR/BRL fell 0.27% to 6.64.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.42% at 99.47.
