Investing.com – Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) founder Jeff Bezos has passed both Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRKa) chairman and investing guru Warren Buffett and Inditex (MC:ITX) founder, the retail group that includes the Zara clothing store chain, Amancio Ortega to become the world’s second richest person.

Bezos’ net worth jumped $10.2 billion so far this year to hit a total of $75.6 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, in what was the third biggest jump on the measure.

Buffett’s net worth fell to $74.9 billion, after having shed $4.7 billion since a March 1 peak, while Ortega clocked in at $74.2 billion, according to the index.

Bezo’s trails only Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) co-founder Bill Gates who remained the world’s richest person with a net worth of $86 billion.
