Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Healthcare, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 1.36%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Proximus NV (BR:PROX), which rose 2.45% or 0.77 points to trade at 31.96 at the close. Meanwhile, Ageas (BR:AGES) added 0.84% or 0.315 points to end at 37.810 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) was up 0.78% or 0.38 points to 48.34 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were UCB (BR:UCB), which fell 18.04% or 13.82 points to trade at 62.77 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 1.43% or 1.100 points to end at 76.030 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) was down 1.37% or 0.82 points to 59.25.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 69 to 48 and 9 ended unchanged.
Shares in Proximus NV (BR:PROX) rose to 52-week highs; rising 2.45% or 0.77 to 31.96.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.48% or 6.04 to $1259.64 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.73% or 0.37 to hit $51.04 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.47% or 0.25 to trade at $53.86 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.21% to 1.1231, while EUR/GBP rose 0.45% to 0.8635.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 96.90.
