Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Consumer Services and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.08% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which rose 3.11% or 1.24 points to trade at 41.16 at the close. Meanwhile, Ageas (BR:AGES) added 1.24% or 0.480 points to end at 39.180 and Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA (BR:GBLB) was up 0.87% or 0.68 points to 79.24 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which fell 1.95% or 1.200 points to trade at 60.280 at the close. UCB (BR:UCB) declined 1.76% or 1.11 points to end at 62.00 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) was down 1.37% or 0.39 points to 27.66.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 62 to 52 and 15 ended unchanged.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.27% or 3.25 to $1212.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.38% or 0.73 to hit $53.48 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.89% or 0.49 to trade at $55.72 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.11% to 1.0754, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.8581.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 100.06.
