Stock market today: S&P 500 slips as Trump’s tariff salvo sours sentiment
Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Healthcare and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.09%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Cofinimmo SA (EBR:COFB), which rose 2.99% or 2.25 points to trade at 77.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Melexis NV (EBR:MLXS) added 2.73% or 1.60 points to end at 60.25 and Groep Brussel Lambert NV (EBR:GBLB) was up 1.25% or 0.90 points to 72.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lotus Bakeries (EBR:LOTB), which fell 1.88% or 170.00 points to trade at 8,850.00 at the close. UCB SA (EBR:UCB) declined 1.88% or 3.05 points to end at 158.95 and Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB) was down 1.17% or 0.34 points to 28.68.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 49 to 48 and 15 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.73% or 24.70 to $3,372.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.84% or 1.15 to hit $63.67 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.76% or 1.14 to trade at $65.77 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.58% to 1.14, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.46% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.53% at 99.16.
