Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Telecoms, Industrials and Consumer Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.86% to hit a new 5-year high.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Proximus NV (BR:PROX), which rose 3.08% or 0.89 points to trade at 29.60 at the close. Meanwhile, KBC (BR:KBC) added 2.48% or 1.700 points to end at 70.190 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) was up 1.80% or 0.81 points to 45.62 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which fell 1.03% or 0.830 points to trade at 79.800 at the close. Sofina (BR:SOF) declined 0.78% or 1.05 points to end at 132.75 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) was down 0.49% or 0.16 points to 32.35.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 79 to 35 and 9 ended unchanged.
Shares in KBC (BR:KBC) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 2.48% or 1.700 to 70.190.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.06% or 0.74 to $1229.34 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.41% or 0.64 to hit $46.16 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.26% or 0.61 to trade at $48.99 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.10% to 1.0995, while EUR/GBP fell 0.14% to 0.8487.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 98.52.
