Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Beverage, Consumer Goods and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.26%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Solvay SA (BRU:SOLB), which rose 1.53% or 1.43 points to trade at 95.13 at the close. Meanwhile, UCB (BRU:UCB) added 1.25% or 0.88 points to end at 71.14 and Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BRU:COFB) was up 1.24% or 1.15 points to 93.92 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Umicore NV (BRU:UMI), which fell 1.55% or 0.54 points to trade at 34.38 at the close. DIeteren SA (BRU:IETB) declined 1.01% or 0.350 points to end at 34.150 and Elia (BRU:ELI) was down 0.85% or 0.360 points to 42.200.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 94 to 60 and 8 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.54% or 6.10 to $1130.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.65% or 1.23 to hit $45.13 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.48% or 0.72 to trade at $48.35 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.37% to 1.1169, while EUR/GBP rose 1.15% to 0.7323.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.06% at 96.44.
