Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Telecoms and Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.41% to hit a new 5-year high.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Sofina (EBR:SOF), which rose 2.81% or 7.00 points to trade at 256.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Argen-X (EBR:ARGX) added 1.60% or 8.20 points to end at 521.80 and UCB SA (EBR:UCB) was up 1.58% or 2.55 points to 163.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Montea C.V.A. (EBR:MONTE), which fell 1.21% or 0.80 points to trade at 65.40 at the close. Cofinimmo SA (EBR:COFB) declined 1.19% or 0.90 points to end at 74.85 and Warehouses de Pauw Comm VA (EBR:WDPP) was down 1.13% or 0.24 points to 20.98.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 50 to 46 and 11 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.89% or 29.36 to $3,313.96 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.31% or 0.19 to hit $61.84 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.29% or 0.19 to trade at $65.19 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.52% to 1.13, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.63% at 99.35.
